HEALTHY ATTICS
WHAT IS AN ATTIC RESTORATION
If Rodents or animals have invaded your attic, it may be time to consider an attic restoration. Rodents and wildlife damage the critical insulation in your attic. They burrow, mound defecate and excrete in attic insulation making your attic a breading ground for bacteria and disease as well as substantially reducing the effectiveness of your insulations. Attic restorations are performed in 4 steps
STEP 1: Removal of contaminated insulation
STEP 2: Sealing of Attic to prevent re-infestation
STEP 3: Sanitizing the attic decking
STEP 4: Installation of TAP® Pest Control Insulation
After an attic restoration your attic will be far more efficient and can result in up to a 25% reduction in heating costs from the previously contaminated insulation. Not to mention that TAP® insulation also kills insects that may find there way in your attic such as silverfish, firebrats, ants, spiders and many more un wanted guests.

HOW IS THE WORK PERFORMED?
REMOVAL
Insulation is removed from the attic utilizing a heavy-duty insulation vacuum and large hoses. These hoses may need to be run through the home in order to allow access into the attic. The contaminated insulation is then removed from the site and discarded properly.
SEALING
Once the insulation has been removed, we perform a detailed inspection of the attic with all insulation gone. This allows us to identify areas pests may be using to enter the attic space. We then seal these areas while ensuring proper attic ventilation is maintained.
SANITIZING
After the insulation is removed and entry points are sealed, we apply a specialized sanitizing treatment to all affected surfaces in the attic. This step helps neutralize odors, reduce the risk of disease-causing organisms, and create a cleaner, healthier environment before the new insulation is installed.
INSTALLATION
Once removal, sealing, and sanitizing are complete, it’s time to install the new insulation. In Iowa, we offer two levels of installation — R49 and R60 — depending on the structure of the home and the desired insulating properties. We use cellulose-based insulation infused with boric acid to both insulate your attic and deter pests. Cellulose insulation is about 33% more effective at insulating than fiberglass, meaning less material is required to achieve the same insulating value.

WHAT IS TAP® INSULATION
TAP® Pest Control Insulation is the only product registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to control insects that also includes an ENERGY STAR® label and UL Classification. Not only does it outperform traditional insulation in keeping a structure thermally sound year-round, TAP® Pest Control Insulation also helps prevent and eliminate potentially destructive and disease-transmitting pests including ants, cockroaches, termites and silverfish (among others) from entering the home’s living and working spaces.
TAP® stands for Thermal, Acoustic and Pest Control Insulation. This product offers superior performance in all of these areas and is Energy Star and UL certified.
